Today marks the beginning of the long-awaited construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. According to reports, the VHP designs will be used to remodel Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The construction commences after the elaborate Rudra Abhishek ceremony.

The 'Rudra Abhishek' ceremony took place at Kuber Tila temple, and Mahant Kamal Nayan Das along with other priests performed special prayers for the ceremony. The ceremony lasted for about two hours.

Ayodhya is a land of dispute, there stood the 16th century Babri Masjid, which is claimed to be originally the spot of Ram Janambhoomi Temple. In 1992 Babri Masjid was demolished by kar sevaks, and since then there's been a land dispute for Ayodhya.

Last year on Nov 9, the Supreme Court took a historic decision to allow the construction of Ram Mandir on Ayodhya land, and another five acres of land was allocated to the Sunni Waqf Board for building Babri Masjid.

Netizens had mixed reactions to the news.
